Summary

As a Sales Account Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping customers find the right precision optics and optoelectronic vacuum coating solutions for their needs. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their challenges and guide them toward new and used equipment, upgrades, retrofits, and complete process solutions that support their goals. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to build lasting relationships, shape the customer experience, and help bring innovative technology to market through effective sales strategy and product promotion.

Our state-of-the art solutions include semiconductor, precision or ophthalmic optics applications, the metalization of headlights for the automotive industry, architectural and automotive glass, roll-to-roll substrates for capacitors or flexible electronics. Our engineering expertise and broad technology portfolio enable customers to achieve high‑performance optical coatings with exceptional precision, consistency, and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Working closely with potential customers to define detailed system specifications, with recommendations of technology, processes, and hardware to best meet their needs.
  • Prepare and issue detailed quotations for customers.
  • Identification of new technology areas and applications for Leybold Optics products.
  • Development of new accounts in the North American market (USA and Canada).
  • Account management of existing accounts in the North American market.
  • Working with project management to define machine layout, technical specifications, and installations.
  • Coordinating with customer support, service support, and finance to resolve issues with accounts such as order processing issues, payment issues, and technical issues related to products.
  • Define, develop, and implement marketing strategies in accordance with annual budget.  
  • Coordinating and helping to organize trade shows and exhibitions.
  • Coordinating and helping to organize any technical symposiums.
  • Attending any necessary trade or technology seminars and organizations.
  • Supporting the advertising and marketing program by writing articles, advertorials, press releases or other forms of advertising.
  • Attending any internal sales meetings, product launch functions, or other sales related activities within the sales region or internationally.
  • Must arrive to work predictably and promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in field of optical and optoelectronics vacuum coatings or relevant technologies.
  • Previous sales experience is required, preferably in capital equipment sales. 
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong customer relationship, sales and negotiating skills.
  • Sufficient technical knowledge of products to be sold.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions independently, effectively, and creatively within established company guidelines.
  • Understands confidential nature of organizational and employee information and observes confidentiality.
  • Works as a proactive team player with an ownership approach to work.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, problem solve, and give direction regarding problem resolutions for individual and company issues, at strategic and functional level.
  • Speaks and understands English.
  • German/Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Domestic and international travel 50% time which may include long hours and non-traditional work schedules.
