Summary
Lead the implementation and execution of new strategies and structures for the Project Execution Department, with a particular focus on building an engineering team and hub from the ground up. Provide planning leadership, direction, and active talent and staff management, ensuring the transfer of knowledge within the group. The Department Manager must have a holistic understanding not only of the company’s product but also of how it fits into the client’s broader ecosystem. Ensure compliance with Bühler directives and EHS standards within the area of responsibility.
Job Responsibilities
- Build and develop a capable and motivated engineering team and hub, establishing foundational processes and culture.
- Manage all aspects of the Project Execution group, define priorities, and nominate staff to projects and assignments.
- Oversee complex projects, ensuring a holistic approach that considers both company and client ecosystems.
- Support Team Managers of Project Execution to control schedules, costs, forecast risks and opportunities, develop corrective action plans, and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Survey project progress, ensuring scope completeness, consistency, and technical integrity.
- Monitor and control project engineering cost and budget.
- Manage department cost budget and recovery rate targets.
- Implement and maintain effective project technical risk management processes.
- Lead or contribute to BA/Regional Project Execution coordination meetings to foster alignment of tools, processes, and standards across the company.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Execution Manager of BA or Region on project and process issues, develop and implement agreed improvements, and provide ad-hoc analysis and presentations.
- Establish policy, procedure, and improvements aligned to objectives of the Project Execution Department.
Qualifications
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Economics or Business Administration or substantial Business Management background
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of project execution/ engineering
- At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing engineering teams
- Strong intercultural skills and abilities for managing worldwide interfaces
- Knowledge of project management fundamentals and techniques
- Extensive knowledge of executing tools, techniques and processes, including scheduling, cost control, progress and productivity analysis, resource loading, and schedule forecasting
- Ability to simplify complex technical information into useable Management presentations and communications
- Strong planning, organising and priority setting skills, with a proven ability to manage teams in an international environment
- Good commercial knowledge for assessing business risks and opportunities
- Proficiency in English language
