Are you passionate about leading innovative automation projects from concept to completion? As a Project Manager – Automation, you'll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge automation solutions that help customers improve efficiency, productivity, and performance.
In this customer-facing role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and cross-functional project teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations. You'll coordinate resources, manage project schedules, drive communication, and proactively solve challenges while building strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
- Manages the allocated project in technical properties and executes scope of work within field of specialization; may execute sub-systems of more complex projects in conjunction with Project Manager and approves deliverables of designs
- Manages and leads project team in order to achieve and further improve the cost, schedule, quality and EHS targets
- Participates in internal and external project reviews or project meetings and organizes and participates in debriefing meets following project conclusion
- Ensures proper project deviation management; assess, approves and expedites technical aspects of change orders and defines effective claim strategies for customers, partners, subcontractors, etc.
- Prepares documentation for the installation processes and prepares work packages for other locations as needed
- Resolves issues and answers questions that may occur during the design, manufacturing, installation and/or commissioning phase of projects
- Tracks project schedules to ensure tasks are completed on time and in totality
- Manages assigned budget, including cost and quality of subcontracted design services
- Provides technical support for claim and deviation management as needed; uses Bühler CAQ system to track deviations
- Provides guidance and support to project team members
- Participates in continual learning activities and applies practical applications to work performed
- Must arrive to work predictably and promptly
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s from an accredited institution in mechanical, electrical or automation engineering or related field with 3-5 years of experience in a project engineering role; or a combination of education and experiences
• Microsoft Office required
• AutoCAD, Ebase or Eplan; Software – Windows Server 2012, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, VMware, HyperV; PCL – Studio 5000, TIA Portal
• Interpersonal - considers needs and feelings of others and appropriately responds to different situations
• Teamwork - works collaboratively with a group of employees in order to achieve a common goal
• Judgment/Decision Making/Problem Solving - utilizes effective approaches for choosing a course of action for developing appropriate solutions
• Planning/Organizing - sets clear goals and functions effectively under critical and tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and other pressures
• Oral and Written Communication - presents information, analysis, and ideas in writing in a clear and concise manner; speaks clearly so that others can hear and understand what is being said
• Speaks and understands English
• Domestic and international travel 30% time which may include long hours and non-traditional work schedules
