Quality and EHS Manager
Minneapolis, MN, US, 55440-9497
Summary
As the Quality & EHS Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to shape how quality, safety, and continuous improvement come to life across Regional Operations. You’ll lead the Customer Quality Response (CAQ) team, partner closely with Project Execution and Transactional Services, and turn warranty and equipment challenges into meaningful improvements for our customers and teams.
In this role, you’ll champion strong ISO quality management practices while building a proactive, zero-harm EHS culture across both operational facilities and customer sites. It’s an opportunity to combine strategic leadership with hands-on problem solving and make a visible impact on customer experience, operational excellence, and employee safety.
Job Responsibilities
• Direct and mentor a team of three Customer Quality Engineers responsible for rapid-response resolution, customer warranty management, and root-cause investigations across a diverse industrial equipment portfolio.
• Champion robust structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, RCA) to resolve complex equipment issues, eliminate recurring failures, and protect customer satisfaction.
• Manage end-to-end warranty tracking, data analytics, and claim disposition to identify technical trends and feed actionable lessons learned back into engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for critical customer quality issues, leading high-stakes communications and transparent corrective action presentations.
• Partner closely with Regional Operations leaders—specifically Field Service technicians and Workshop repair personnel—to standardize standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control plans, and inspection criteria.
• Own, maintain, and audit the regional Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring ongoing compliance and recertification under relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Establish, track, and report on key operational quality KPIs (e.g., first-time fix rate, repeat repair rate, non-conformance costs, on-time CAQ resolution).
• Lead cross-functional Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ) and drive process repeatability across service channels.
• Lead an engaged, front-line safety culture where incident reporting, hazard identification, and stop-work authority are actively practiced across workshops and field operations.
• Direct operational risk management processes, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), standard risk assessments, machine safeguarding audits, and PPE compliance for both fixed facilities and mobile service technicians.
• Own regional EHS compliance, metrics, and regulatory reporting (OSHA, EPA, local/regional environmental regulations, and corporate sustainability metrics).
• Manage incident response, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation for any safety, environmental, or near-miss events, ensuring transparent reporting to executive leadership.
• Oversee environmental stewardship programs, including hazardous waste management, spill prevention, and emission/waste reduction initiatives in line with sustainability targets.
• Foster an inclusive, high-accountability environment through regular coaching, technical upskilling, goal setting, and continuous performance feedback.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Global Quality, Product Management, R&D, and Supply Chain to bridge customer operational realities with design and manufacturing quality improvements.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline, Quality/Safety Management, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in engineering, quality management, or operational EHS within a heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or technical field service environment.
• Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience managing technical professionals (engineers or specialists).
• Hands-on expertise managing complex root-cause analyses (8D, Six Sigma, Ishikawa) and resolving customer-facing warranty/reliability claims.
• Direct experience implementing safety programs and operational risk management across workshop or mobile/field service environments.
• Solid working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001/14001 frameworks.
• ASQ certification (CQE, CQM/OE), Lean/Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or safety credentials (CSP, ASP, OSHA 30) preferred.
• Proficiency in Enterprise ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence cross-functional peers and present technical data clearly to leadership and key customers.
• High-level analytical ability to interpret operational trends and translate data into preventive systemic changes.
• Agility to balance long-term quality system design with high-urgency, customer-driven tactical problem solving.
