IP Manager

Summary
We are looking for a motivated IP Manager to join our team. In this role, you will help protect Bühler’s investments in innovation and manage Bühler’s intellectual property portfolio, support innovation across the business, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- You manage the IP portfolio and take responsibility for patents, trademarks, designs, and related intellectual property assets across designated business areas
- You support innovation teams by working closely with R&D, engineering, product management, and business units to identify and protect new inventions
- You prepare and prosecute patent filings in collaboration with external patent attorneys and internal stakeholders, ensuring that patent applications are prepared, filed, and pursued effectively
- You conduct IP analyses, including freedom-to-operate assessments, patent searches, competitor monitoring, and risk evaluations
- You provide IP guidance to internal teams on IP strategy, confidentiality, licensing, enforcement, and best practices
Qualifications

University degree in mechanical engineering, food sciences, or related fields; at least partly qualified as European Patent Attorney

Few years of professional experience as a patent attorney or trainee in an industrial IP department or law firm

Excellent communication skills in English as well as good command of German

Confidence in working with cross-functional teams and explaining IP topics clearly to non-specialists as well as ability to work in a complex matrix organization

Structured, detail-oriented, proactive mindset with the ability to assess risks and opportunities from a business perspective as well as ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into IP strategies
